A-Kon 28 Presents ATELIER PIERROT, Pentagon Japan, OxT, and More!

A-Kon 28 will take place on June 8-11, 2017 in Fort Worth, TX. A-Kon is the longest running and second largest anime convention in the US. This year A-Kon presents a stellar fashion and music lineup.

From Japan, first we have ATELIER PIERROT

ATELIER PIERROT

ATELIER PIERROT is a Gothic Lolita brand. Their flagship store was established in the famed Harajuku La Foret building when it first opened in 1978. ATELIER PIERROT creates and sells Classical Lolita and Elegant Gothic Lolita designs, with styles ranging from exquisite gothic tastes to elegant Rococo influence.

Designer Yuko Ashizawa and shop staff Mai will be attending the convention. ATELIER PIERROT will have a booth in the Dealer’s Room and be in attendance of the fashion show and tea party.

I’ve been a long-time fan of Atelier Pierrot, so I’m very excited to finally be able to meet Yuko-san. Their clothing is gorgeous, sturdy, and plus size friendly! I have the honor of being able to model for Atelier Pierrot. I am nervous, but it will be a good show.

Pentagon Japan

The first featured musical guest is visual kei band Pentagon Japan!

Pentagon Japan is a charismatic Visual Kei band taking the scene by storm with their eye-catching visual style and alternative metal and rock sound. Founded by members of the popular session band “Call Me,” Pentagon Japan released a YouTube teaser video in late 2014. The video garnered thousands of views within days. The band officially began activities on January 12th, 2015, with a sold-out first solo performance and every CD release ranking in the Oricon top 50 charts. In September of 2016, before their 2nd anniversary, the band completed their first major tour which sold out venues and spanned all 47 prefectures of Japan. Pentagon Japan is number one among young Visual Kei bands in the scene today.

OxT

Last but not least, the second musical featured musical guest is OxT!

OxT is the digital rock unit comprised of Masayoshi Oishi and Tom-H@ck.
In 2013, the two released the tracks “Go EXCEED!!” and “Perfect HERO” for the anime Ace of Diamond as Tom-H@ck featuring Masayoshi Oishi. They created the unit OxT in 2015.

OxT has created theme songs for other popular anime including Prince of Stride: Alternative, and Hand Shakers. Their electrifying live performance is not to be missed.

In addition to OxT activities, Masayoshi Oishi will also have a solo concert.

Masayoshi Oishi began his career in 2001 as the vocalist and guitarist of the band Sound Schedule and made his solo debut in 2008.

Guitar slapping and slams are his specialty, and manipulating the acoustic guitar like a magician, Oishi delivers a masterpiece performance with finger picking using his own nail. His singing voice, lyrics, and melodies all contribute to a fun and highly entertaining performance.

Masayoshi Oishi composed several theme songs for anime series such as Ace of Diamond and Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-Kun. Recently, his work as a singer-songwriter has included composing the opening theme for the hit show Kemono Friends, as well as providing his composition to several popular artists.

I don’t know if you know this already, but I love the anime Ace of Diamond, so when OxT was announced, it was definitely a selling point for me! See y’all in the front row.
