Big Black Wings

During Japan’s quarantine, Atelier Pierrot was one of the many brands creating hashtags to promote staying home during the pandemic. The shop staff created a new Twitter account (@PierrotStaff) to host a small contest for at home coords using the hasthag #ピエロホームコーデ (Pierrot home coord). Three winners received an Atelier Pierrot petticoat. It’s also really nice to see the other outfits in the hashtag, Because Japanese lolitas tend to be more private, finding their coordinates, especially for gothic brands, can be challenging.

On this day in 2019, I went to get coffee with a friend.. There was a pop-up cafe I really wanted to try. I chose this Atelier Pierrot JSK since I hadn’t worn it in a year or two. My favorite part of it is the high-low skirt tail or buttcape as some may consider it. Looking at these pictures now though, the petticoat is too short for the dress creating a sad droop towards the bottom of the skirt. I’m actually considering removing one layer of tiers since the length ends past my knees which is not the best length for me since it makes my legs look shorter.

At the time, I also received this cool winged headdress in the mail from the Korean indie brand Requiem, so I wore it out. For the English-speaking community, we rarely hear about Korean lolita community. Thankfully, I found some to follow on Instagram and that’s how I learned about Requiem! I saw Evan (@evanthelolita) post her outfit with the headdress. Then I discovered the brand belongs to the elegant Alice (@alcci). Ordering from Requiem’s site was easy and the headdresses are gorgeous. I ordered it in both colorways; this is the black version. The design is very well thought out with the wings being detachable from the headband. That way, it’s easy to store and I can drive with the wings off. It adds some cool fantasy to the coord. I want to discover more Korean indie brands!

To match big wings, I balanced it out with big sleeves. The sleeves are almost big enough to be another pair of wings! Wide princess sleeves is one of Atelier Pierrot’s signature designs. They’re gorgeous, but also get in the way of a lot of hand motions. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve almost dipped them in some kind of foods.

Outfit Rundown

  • Head: Requiem Cherub Headdress, Cyperous Wig
  • Dress: Atelier Pierrot Long Bustle JSK
  • Top: Atelier Pierrot Regina Bolero, Alice and the Pirates Lacy Pullover III
  • Socks: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Torchon Lace OTKs
  • Shoes: Yosuke USA Storm Pumps

This isn’t actually my house, but it is a house. Close enough for me! Instead of taking new pictures, these hashtags are motivating me to go edit my very long photo backlog. I realized that while I was transferring to this new site, I failed to post a lot of my coords, so I’m going to work on that while quarantining.. Though I wasn’t particularly aiming to get the petticoat, it would have been nice to get a new one since my Classical Puppets A-line petticoat I bought over 8 years ago is ripping at the waistband. One can dream!
