Okashicon is a small convention located right outside of Austin in Pflugerville, TX. 2018 was the convention’s first year and for their debut, the fashion guests included Harajuku fashion brand Listen Flavor, KERA model Haruka Kurebayashi, and American indie brands 50% Dangerous and MintyMix.
Luckily, I was able to make a day trip to attend Okashicon’s fashion mixer titled Club Pon Pon Konpeito. The tables were decorated in sweets and the party had the cutest and delicious mocktails prepared by the maid cafe. It was a super chill party!
Shortly after I walked in, Rubab announced the designers had a few prizes for the party. Haruka chose @honeycoveredclouds as her favorite Listen Flavor outfit of the day! Matt and Vedetta of 50% Dangerous also chose their favorite outfit and the winner received a 50% Dangerous t-shirt. Kammie of MintyMix also raffled off several of her wigs. After the prizes were handed out, the Okashicon staff also had a very Texan present for Kurebayashi; it was a pink cowboy hat (which she pulled off very well)! I had a wonderful time photographing everyone’s bright and unique styles. It was also great seeing Rubab of FAKE STAR, USA again.
Okashicon has already started announcing the fashion guests for 2019! This year’s lineup already includes 50% Dangerous returning, KERA model Kimurau U and her brand KawaiiHolic., indie brand Miss Octopie, and accessory brand Precious Bbyz. Definitely keep your eyes out for upcoming announcements on Okashicon’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Hopefully I can attend again!
