Mana drops “Elegant Gothic Lolita Aristocrat Vampire Romance” sneakers containing vampire blood (APRIL FOOLS’ DAY)

Visual kei guitarist Mana-sama is teaming up with his label Moi-meme-Moitie for a black and blue version of the Nike Air Force 1 ’07 sneakers dubbed the “Elegant Gothic Lolita Aristocrat Vampire Romance Shoe.”

According to Moitie, the sneakers are designed with “the embossed sole with a special blue ink and one drop of vampire blood” and include a tin alloy candelabra charm and blue wool insoles with crosses on the heels.

The vampire blood used for the sneakers is the blood of his sworn enemy. Outlets have attempted to reach out to ex-bandmate and actual vampire Gackt for comment, but no one has been able to reach him. Each shoe is numbered from one to dix. The shoes retail for ¥31,969, a reference to Mana’s birth month and year of March 1969. The sneakers launched on the brand’s website Thursday. Since the Tanaqro acquisition in 2015, Moitie has denied many fan’s requests of releasing shoes again. When we asked Mana what inspired him to change his mind, he simply responded with a cape flip and stern eye contact.

Moi-meme-Moitie Online Salon members were given first access to buy the shoes. The company confirmed via email April 1 that the limited-edition “drop” of 10 pairs sold out in less than a minute (though Mana-sama will keep the first pair). The new release crashed Wunderwelt’s servers.

Visual kei stans and gothic lolitas worldwide have had mixed reactions following this collaboration.

Nike, too, has received some backlash for the Elegant Gothic Lolita Aristocrat Vampire Romance Shoe, however, the brand was not involved in the collaboration.

“We do not have a relationship with Mana or Moi-meme-Moitie,” a spokesperson from Nike said. “These shoes are not a Nike release. We took no part in their design and we do not endorse them.”

Though Wunderwelt stated that if there is enough interest, they may consider a re-release.
