Elegant Gothic Aristocrat Matching Outfits with Akari

Well, 2020 is definitely off to a rough beginning. With most of the world in self-isolation or quarantine, all physical fashion events are cancelled, but the EGL community continues its passion for the fashion. Meetups have moved online and there’s a new trend called remote twinning! Twinning has always been a tradition in lolita fashion since its early days. Now it’s easier than ever to twin with someone across the world with some basic photo editing. The act is referred to as remote twinning and sometimes virtual twinning or e-twinning. View most of the duos on Instagram through hashtag #remotetwinning which started being used in the latter half of March. It’s a fun little activity if you’re bored or need some motivation to wear nice clothes.

My first twin is the lovely Akari (@artemis_argyi) from Massachusetts! She always makes great use of accessories and has a creative way of layering pieces. Our wardrobes synchronized together to make an elegant gothic aristocrat outfit based on Moi meme Moitie’s Lace Up Gilet and Sheglit’s Maxi Length Frill Skirt. It’s not so apparent, but we’re also wearing the same shoes and socks, but since the skirt is long.

I usually wear this Moi meme Moitie gilet in ouji style and would have not have ever thought to coord it in a femme EGA look. The vest has enough flare to drape nicely over a petticoat as seen in her coord and that’s when I realized I was missing that detail as I was editing my photos. My skirt is actually the original BLACK PEACE NOW version, but since Sheglit’s designer formerly worked for BPN, some of her designs renewed under the Sheglit label. I actually just bought this blouse from her recently and I find myself gravitating towards it frequently.

Outfit Rundown

  • Skirt: BLACK PEACE NOW maxi frill skirt

I have always wanted to twin, but my wardrobe does not match up with most of the community in my city. When you’re mainly wear ouji/aristocrat, you have slim pickings pretty much in any location based community; we’ve always been few and far away from each other. The good thing about virtual twinning is that it gives me a reason to dress up during quarantine. I’ve been severely slacking in taking outfit photos at home over the last few years, so this is really motivating!

Big thanks to Akari for being my first twin! Be sure to check out her Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for more of her banger outfits. I have not met her in person, but I hope to in the future!

If you’d like to remote twin with me, just shoot me a message! I’ll be happy to send my updated stock photo wardrobe album over to see if we have anything in common. You can also view my 2019 wardrobe post, but it’s a little outdated and stock photos are easier to look at.
