Happy Maid Day! May 10 is Maid Day in Japan. I may not always comprehend Japanese number pun holidays, but I’m down to celebrate by posting a coord!
Lately I’ve been interested in aprons. For most of my lolita life, I owned 0 aprons. 2023 hit and now I own at least 4 aprons. My last outfit featuring an apron was more on the cute side, so I wanted to coordinate an apron in a more elegant way.
The apron featured in this outfit is from a Japanese indie brand called Yume Nou. I found this brand through someone retweeting it on Twitter. They designed this apron to be simple and versatile, so it could be used in a number of costumes or original creations. Here I was putting it to use with lolita fashion. Although it is a shorter style apron, I thought its simplicity fits the Victorian aesthetic quite well.

I wore this coordinate to Tokyo X, a food festival and anime hybrid event in Houston. Ain’t nothing weebier than wearing a maid outfit to an anime event. I didn’t spill any food on myself, but I did sadly lose a button on the dress. F. Also, forgive the headdress flopping around; it wasn’t designed to be used on a hair bump.
Maid lolita has always been very cute to me! If done right, of course. Most of the time it’s not good, but I hope to see more in the future. It seems like a popular theme with Chinese brands within the past few years.
