Le Kream Cube Croissants Review

Le Kream is a croissant focused bakery originally from Los Angeles, CA. With 2 locations in LA, they are opening a 3rd location here in Houston, TX that will soft open on July 10, 2025. Le Kream Houston invited me to taste some of their products before the opening!

The Houston location of Le Kream is located in Chinatown in the Bellaire Food Street. This unit was previously occupied by Beard Papas and Captain Bbang. Walking in, some delicious looking signs sat in the front.

3 signs advertising what kind of items the cafe serves. Sign 1 has pictures of drinks and text "kream spanner: rich, creamy, unforgettable." Sign 2 highlights the cube croissants. Sign 3 highlights a "to-ba-to" drink with the words "perfect drinks crafted just for you."

To preface, cube croissants aren’t new to me. I’ve had them from 2 other Houston bakeries, so I had some expectations. The croissants at Le Kream are the main focus of the shop with a focus on favorite Asian flavors. On the side, they also make chocolate chip cookies and a few personal sized cakes.

The case was filled with 10 different flavors. That day had matcha, creme brulee, milk, earl grey, pistachio, black sesame, yuzu, ube, strawberry, and chocolate.

I got tried a little bit of everything! The croissants are crisp and filled to the brim with cream. You can get cream with every bite thanks to the cube shape. The fillings are not too sweet either (complimentary), making eating multiple very easy. I definitely recommend eating them day of. They recommend refrigerating the croissants when you take them home, but I noticed a significant change in texture on the 2nd day. It lost the crust crispiness.

Out of the flavors I got to try, my top 3 were yuzu, matcha, and creme brulee! Sarah and I are always searching for yuzu menu items in Houston and this is one of my favorite yuzu things I’ve had. The matcha had great flavor. Creme brulee is one of my guilty pleasures. I especially enjoyed the ube since it was topped with some chips. I wish I got to try the milk and earl grey, but I supposed I’ll have to come back for those.

Cup of mini croissants.

If you don’t want a whole croissant, there’s an alternative. These mini croissants are served with cream on the side. It was pretty cute idea on how to serve byproduct, like the donut holes of donuts. These mini croissants had more crunch to them.

2 iced drinks on countertop. Left is strawberry mojito. Right is yuzu lemonade.

We were given 2 drinks as well. The strawberry mojito (non-alcoholic) was good and not too sweet. Tasted as is: strawberry and fizzy water. The yuzu lemonade slush on the right was my favorite out of the two since I’m a sucker for yuzu, but also I can’t drink much carbonated drinks personally. The slush was super refreshing on a 90+ degree day.

Lastly, we took home this Biscoff layered cake. Surprisingly, it was not that creamy, so I ended up adding cream at home. Not sure if the cookie crumbs ended up sucking a lot of moisture.

Overall, I really liked the product! It is the best cube croissant I’ve eaten in Houston so far. I will come back to try more flavors and drinks. Make sure to eat the croissants as fresh as you can. The creaminess with the crust is worth it.

Thank you to Le Kream for inviting me!
