I am a Houston native and I love the great city of Houston with all my soul. Houston has a history in the coffee scene, at one point having the largest coffee plant in the world. These days speciality coffee shops are abound. Wether you’re a local looking for a new place, or visiting for a world class event like the Houston Livestock and Rodeo, or popping in for the FIFA World Cup games, this list is here to answer “where can I find speciality coffee near me?”
Speciality Coffee Roasters in Houston
Houston has a wide array of specialty coffee roasters, all with their different personalities. This list is in no particular order
BlendIn Coffee Club

BlendIn Coffee Club was established in 2017 and has been shaping the global coffee scene ever since. On top of roasting and brewing world class coffee, the founder, Weihong Zhang became the 2024 US Brewers Cup Champion and in 2026 BlendIn Coffee Club was recognized as the 20th best coffee shop in the world by the Top 100 Coffee Shops in the World.
BlendIn was the first place where I tasted the notes of a single origin coffee, and I have been chasing that high ever since. They carry beans from around the world, and it is the first place I tasted beans from China and Taiwan. If you only have the chance to try one coffee shop in Houston, I absolutely recommending going to one of BlendIn’s two locations and picking something from their single origin selection.





Simply Coffie

Simply Coffie is simply a delight of an experience. They have really amazing single origin coffees from around the world, delicious locally sourced pastries and sweets, and a beautiful exterior. They proudly don’t make drinks with sugar, to focus on the coffee. My favorite thing to do is get a little sweet treat with a coffee, and Simply Coffie really delivers a quality experience. Their iced coffee is also amazing.

New Heights Coffee Roasters

New Heights Coffee Roasters serves a variety of high quality signature drinks and single origin coffees. Their signature drinks are unique, and their seasonal menu is definitely worth checking out! One time I had the privilege of trying a coffee soup. It’s always a struggle of what to order because they have so many amazing options.




La Tazza Specialty Coffee

La Tazza Specialty Coffee is a delicious specialty coffee shop that specializes in serving highly graded coffee. While they serve cafe classics like lattes, signature drinks, and more, their pour over menu should not be missed! They break their menu down by “A” Grade Coffee through “AAA+” Grade Coffee. Get a sandwich or a sweet treat while you enjoy your coffee!
Third Gen Coffee

Third Gen Coffee was founded in 2017 by third generation coffee farmers from Honduras. They proudly serve Honduran coffee from multiple family farms in Honduras. Their goal is to promote the Honduran coffee industry, with a variety of flavor profiles in their single origin beans.


Red Light Coffee Roasters

Right Light Coffee Roasters is one of my most frequented specialty coffee shops. Located in Galveston, they are one of the few specialty coffee roasters and shops on the island. While I adore their specialty drinks and seasonal drinks, they have recently introduced a pour over menu that I can’t walk away from. I highly recommend stopping in Red Light Coffee Roasters if you’re in Galveston!
Pearland Coffee Roasters

Established in 2010, Pearland Coffee Roasters is one of the first specialty coffee shops in Pearland. Now with three locations, their first coffee shop in Old Town Pearland is located next to train tracks. I, like many of their customers, enjoy sitting with a cup of coffee watching the trains go by. It is truly a dream of an experience for those looking to enjoy the peacefulness that can be found in ordinary everyday life. I highly recommend ordering one of their single origins and watching the trains go by.
Three Keys Coffee Bar

Three Keys Coffee Bar is located in Houston’s downtown. It’s the perfect place to get your specialty coffee fix in downtown. Name Food & Wine’s Best Coffee Roaster in Texas 2022, Three Keys Coffee brings a jazz like experience to every cup. If you can’t make it to their downtown location, their beans are also sold at Central Market!
Kefita Coffee

Kefita Coffee is a Black Women owned specialty coffee shop proudly serving Ethiopian coffee in Houston’s midtown. Kefita Coffee has amazing specialty coffee and has fostered community in Houston that is second to none. I highly recommend stopping in and enjoying their specialty latte flight or if you’re lucky enough to catch their Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

Little Dreamer Coffee

Little Dreamer Coffee is the current project of Houston coffee legend Matt Toomey, and has been roasting and serving coffee and vibes in Houston since 2021. You might have seen Little Dreamer Coffee at the Urban Harvest Farmer’s Market, or at their previous kiosk in the Garden Oaks area. They their current Montrose location is inside Art League Houston. On top of their high quality specialty drinks, they frequently host vinyl record events and have expanded into a community concept down the street.
Fifth Vessel Coffee Co.

Fifth Vessel Coffee Co. is a specialty coffee shop located in Houston’s downtown. They serve amazing single origin espresso and pour overs, as well a great selection signature drinks. They also have a great matcha program, and are one of the best places to get matcha in Houston. On top of their stunning coffee and matcha offerings, their kitchen makes great food!



Tenfold Coffee Company

A beloved coffee shop in Houston’s Heights, Tenfold Coffee Company is inescapable in the city of Houston. Whether you’ve been to their coffee shop or not, their strong whole sale program has made a massive impact in the city of Houston. They have a strong foundation in coffee and host educational classes as well.
Catalina

Catalina Coffee is the sister coffee shop of coffee roaster Amaya Coffee. They have great pastries to accompany their coffees. Catalina Coffee as a selection of single origin options that can be for a pour over or espresso based drinks. Amaya Coffee also has a strong wholesale program and their beans can be found at coffee shops around the city.
Cavo

Located in West U, Cavo serves bean from their in house roaster, Cleo Roasting Co. They serve specialty lattes, and have single origin espresso and pour over options.
Blacksmith

Blacksmith is a specialty coffee shop ran by Greenway Coffee Roasters. They have a solid food menu, an excellent pastry program, and of course amazing specialty coffee. I am a total sucker for their Competition Cappuccino, a cappuccino using freeze distilled milk, a single shot of espresso, and a side car. It’s an amazing way to taste the differences milk brings out in their espresso. While you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, I cannot shake the hold their Competition Cappuccino has on me.

Yemex – Bakehouse & Specialty Coffee

Yemex is a new Yemeni and Mexican halal specialty coffee shop that is quintessentially Houston. They have a unique signature drink menu with items like Areekano, an iced americano with a date cold foam and topped with cheddar cheese, and a Guava Matcha. Yemex also offers a single origin pour over, which works great with their French style pastries that have Yemeni and Mexican inspired flavors, like their labneh za’atar croissant, maple beef chorizo pinwheel, or their pistachio cinnamon roll. They stay open pretty late, so it’s a great spot for people trying to get their late night specialty coffee fix!
Kohiko Coffee House

Kohiko is a Japanese-American owned coffee shop in Sugarland. They are a multi roaster with a strong matcha program. If you enjoy the combination of matcha and espresso, their signature lattes like the Moshi Moshi Latte or OC Nikkei Latte are not to be missed. They also offer pour over from their rotating selection of specialty coffee beans.

Blue Tile Coffee

Conveniently located next to the HEB off Washington, Blue Tile Coffee serves specialty coffee using beans from Amaya Coffee. They have cafe classic espresso menu items, as well as unique specialty drinks like their Dreamsicle Latte, Applecano, and Espresso Tonic.
Della Coffee

Located in Montrose, Della Coffee serves specialty coffee and in house pastries. A Tenfold Coffee Company partner, they serve both Tenfold’s standard blend and a single origin option. I really enjoy getting a single origin flat white and a pastry, watching the cars go by.

Cambrian Coffee

A multi roaster coffee shop in Garden Oaks, Cambrian Coffee serves coffee from specialty coffee roasters from all over the world. They have a rotating selection of specialty coffees that they serve along with their in house pastries. Cambrian Coffee is British owned and serve British style pastries like sausage rolls and scones. They have a paleontology theme and Cambrian Coffee is a charming place to enjoy a slow bar selection and a treat.

The List

The List is a premium Houston coffee experience that is just so incredibly cool. Located in the Eado, The List is a cafe, gallery, and event space. The downstairs cafe has deep rich brown wall paneling, comfy couches, and unique specialty coffee bar. Pop in any time to enjoy their coffee, or check their social media to see what community events they are hosting!
FIX Coffeebar

FIX Coffeebar is a multi roaster in the heart of Montrose! They serve coffee from different Houston based coffee roasters and are known for their signature drinks. They have a great sense of hospitality, with a warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere! Their smoked rosemary cortado is a real treat and I highly recommend stopping in!
