Night at the FOMO Factory

Welcome to Houston, FOMO Factory! The FOMO Factory is an interactive art installation with 17 different rooms. Its concept is to “escape to childhood” by traveling back in time. First opened in Austin, TX, the pop-up has opened a second location at Houston’s The Galleria. It’s located on the third floor of the mall with a big sign hanging from the ceiling, so you can’t miss it. All of the rooms had a fun and vibrant theme. The colorful backdrops were perfect for J-fashion shoots.

I had a few friends visiting from out of town, so we decided to visit to escape the Houston heat. We arrived an hour before closing. They highly suggest having 90 minutes to experience the full exhibit (they’re right), but they were kind enough to let us in last minute. When you walk in, you’re greeted with a positive attitude from the staff and receive a name tag for time travel. What I liked about it was they were selling a whole experience not just a bunch of photosets. Despite the short time we had, I managed to get a few keepers. The lighting was actually pleasantly good. The founder and her father built the business together and it was interesting to hear the stories of how it was executed from her father since he constructed the rooms himself.

I had seen the giant moon piece from a few Instagram photos and chose to wear AP’s Holy Lantern to match it. I coordinated it in a really simple way with a bolero and ankle socks, so I wouldn’t overheat since Texas summer is intense.

Unfortunately, they announced permanent closures of both the Austin and Houston locations yesterday. They are commenting that there are no plans to re-open, so those who didn’t get to to go will experience the ultimate FOMO. I was hoping to visit again, but thank you for the great experience FOMO Factory!

A Valentine's Outfit

Happy Valentine’s Day, folks. I have no plans for today, so I wanted to share my outfit from last weekend’s lolita meetup at Mango Mango. Gathered Chiffon is a classic staple from Alice and the Pirates and I decided to wear it with the matching headdress since it hasn’t seen daylight for a few years. The black x iris colorway always stood out to me since purple is an uncommon color in lolita fashion. I find canotier headdresses look best with big hairstyles with my face shape, so I used 2 of Prisila’s VM-03 half wigs for twin tails. I just bought the second one while I was in Japan last month. We didn’t do too much at the meetup, so I went over to a friend’s house later and watched the Grammys.

Outfit Rundown

  • Dress: Alice and the Pirates Gathered Chiffon JSK

  • Blouse: Mille Noirs Georgette and Lace Blouse

  • Socks: Moi meme Moitie Cross Arch OTKs

  • Shoes: Yosuke USA Cross Belt Storm Pump Shoes

  • Accessories: Alice and the Pirates Gathered Chiffon Round Headdress, Na+H Frill Choker, Q-Pot Fork Pierced Earring, Q-Pot Plain Spoon Earring, Eyemirrror x under score Thorn Glasses, MeLikesTea Cotton Candy Organza Petticoat

New Year, New Site

Welcome to my new site stephano.me! I’m expecting 2019 to be a good creative year for me, so I finally dedicated myself to a domain and new host. Blogger served me well, but I felt it was time to graduate from it. The idea floated around my brain for a few years, but I finally started working on the new site last November. I’d like to thank Grimy of Going Grimy and Katie of neo crystal for encouraging me to make the move. The original launch was supposed to be in January, but life happaned and I didn’t want to launch an incomplete site. Pushing the launch back did give me a lot of time to refine my thoughts while I was vacationing in Japan.

I have a good idea of the kind of new content I want to make. I’m curious about what kind of content you would like to see as well! My older posts are still on the old blog until I can import and reformat them.

Another reason why I wanted to move is to make a blog for my other project Eating with Stephano. Eating with Stephano started in January 2018 and now after one year, I wanted to have a place where I could store all of my photos in a functional way. Though the blog is still under construction right now, follow Eating with Stephano Instagram in the meantime.

Make sure to check out my 2019 wardrobe post in my next blog post!
