An Alice in Wonderland themed food pop-up hosted by Sphyrn Marketing will take place on May 1 and May 2, 2021 in Houston, TX. The pop-up will be selling treats based on Alice in Wonderland characters and plot references. The contents of the boxes are made by a collective of select Asian American Pacific Islander businesses around Houston. Get ready to fall down the rabbit hole for these treats!
Date & Time
- Day 1: May 1, 2021, 2-4 PM @ Muse Tea (1809 Eldridge Pkwy #109, Houston, TX 77077)
- Day 2: May 2, 2021, 2-5 PM @ Eureka Heights Brew Co. (941 W 18th St, Houston, TX 77008)
Sphyrn Marketing is a new company, but I previously worked with her when she was doing PR for OCA Greater Houston, an organization advocating for rights of Asian Pacific Islander Americans. The Alice in Wonderland pop-up will be the first in a series of pop-up takeout events.
Houston Food Pop-Ups
There are a few things I love; I love themed foods, I love pop-ups, and I love dressing up. Houston’s pop-up game has been blowing up lately in a good way. Once I saw the Alice in Wonderland pop-up, I had to learn more! This event falls right into my food and fashion niche.
I met up with the owner of Sphyrn Marketing to photograph some of the goodies. To fit the theme, I busted out the big ol’ Alice and the Pirates hat stack and coordinated a Mad Hatter inspired outfit. I brought one of my usakumya along for the shoot since she is a white rabbit (despite being a bear).
In total, there are 3 different boxes available for pre-order.
Alice’s Cookie Bag
We photographed the “Alice’s Cookie Bag” set. In this set, the box includes:
- earl grey tea bag cookies: earl grey and lavender cookies shaped like tea sachets
- Caterpillar ice cream cookies: blue and pink cookies representing the funky colors of Absolem the Blue Caterpillar and the mushroom he sits on
- osmanthus tea biscuits
- Alice’s Dasik: Korean tea cookies made by SKM Pastries
The “Alice’s Dasik” cookies were not ready when we did the photoshoot, so they aren’t included in my photos. They will be included in the box though. The set includes ginseng, matcha, and sesame cookies.
Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea
Here are some of the other treats that will be available in the Wonderland Box or Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea sets!
Aren’t they talented? Themed foods are totally my weakness. The Alice in Wonderland theme goes so well with lolita fashion, too, since Alice is such a common theme in the fashion. Come to the event in an Alice-themed outfit or cosplay; it’s highly encouraged!
Pre-orders will end on Sunday April 25, so don’t be late to place an order on Sphyrn Marketing! The boxes will be made in limited quantities.
