The Katy location of GiAu Bar N’ Bites invited me to their media day for their first Anime Night event back in October. Since it was anime themed and Halloween month, I opted to wear a lolita outfit with super chuunibyou elements. The theme of this outfit was “Bloody Hell.”
Anime Themed Cocktails
Anime events are really popular in Houston right now. GiAu Bar N’ Bites prepared a special anime themed drink menu for the event. Most of the series they took inspiration were shounen titles.
Each drink on the menu was inspired by various anime series. In order, the drinks were
- Thirst for Titania: non-alcoholic mocktail inspired by Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail
Luxardo cherry syrup, lime juice, and ginger ale - Tsu-chan: rum cocktail inspired by from Tsuyu Asui from My Hero Academia
kiwi, cocounut Bacardi, Midori, pineapple juice, basil seeds - Sozin’s Comet: gin cocktail inspired by Sozin from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Fireball, grenadine, lychee - Half-Half Bastard Shooters: specialty shooters inspired by Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia
Hpnotq lemon drop & cherry limeade - Espada Poison: tequila cocktail inspired by Szayelaporro Granz from BLEACH
Casamigos Blanco, coconut cream, Rumchata - Purely Hinata: gin cocktail inspired by Hinata Hyuuga from Naruto Shippuden
Empress Gin, peach Schnapps, Vietnamese yogurt - Tohru’s Refreshment: non-alcoholic tea inspired by Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid (but featuring Naruto stickers)
green tea, passion fruit juice, mixed fruit - Blue Exorcist Flaming Tower: specialty cocktail inspired by Rin Okumura from Blue Exorcist
vodka, rum, gin, peach Schnapps, blue curacao, sweet and sour, Red Bull
Funny thing is half of these characters can’t even drink legally since they’re high schoolers. The fun thing about an alcoholic themed menu is certain drinks can be lit on fire. Fire is fun sometimes.
Guro Lolita
During October, I like how nobody bats an eye at you for dressing weird, so I went all out with the “costumey” elements. “Bloody hell” was my mantra of the day which led me to create a grotesque monster theme. Guro lolita is an obscure lolita theme which I’ve always admired since the LiveJournal days, but I never attempted it until this year. I was also inspired by darker themed J-idols like Hikari Shiina and BABYMETAL. Their musical themes are cute with a punk edge. Black, red, and white tend to be popular colors in that idol style.
Outfit Rundown
- Head: MALICIOUS.X Blood Devil Horns A, Enchantlic Enchantilly Rose Lace Ribbon Headband, Arda Wigs Short Bangs, Prisila VM-03 half wig
- Top: h.NAOTO SEVEN Dragon Leather Vest, h.NAOTO SEVEN Bloody Rose Deformed Gilet, Na+H Gauze Frill Blouse
- Bottom: BLACK PEACE NOW tulle skirt, MeLikesTea Rose Petticoat
- Leg: offbrand red tights
- Shoes: Na+H knee high boots
- Accessories: MALICIOUS.X Crocodile Creature Shoulder & Handbag, MALICIOUS.X Creature Face Mask, Symphony of the Vampire Blood Crystal Ring, Symphony of the Vampire Emblem Cross Ring, Moi-meme-Moitie Cross Accessory Chain, Moi-meme-Moitie MmM Logo Ring, Moi-meme-Moitie Candelabra Rose Ring, Alice and the Pirates A/P Logo Ring
The hardest part was trying to work this h.NAOTO Bloody Rose Gilet into a lolita coord. Typically this type of gilet/cardigan is only good for casual looks since the silhouette is very rectangular, but with some creative layering I think I managed to make it work. I paired my bloody MALICIOUS.X horns to match the Bloody Rose print. I painted my nails, too, but only on one hand since I only decided to paint them the night before.
