Vampire Ouji for BIPOC Vampire Day Outfit

The first BIPOC Vampire Day (well, weekend technically) is September 17-19, 2021! I thought this was the perfect time to post this vampire-themed ouji coordinate.

About BIPOC Vampire Day

BIPOC Vampire Day is a new online event made to showcase diversity in vampire pop culture. To share your works, simply use the hashtag #bipocvampday across all social media platforms. September is also Sickle Cell Awareness Month, so the organizers are using this event to promote awareness and raise funds for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America and other sickle cell organizations. There’s even a raffle you can participate in, see their charity page for details. One of the prizes is from Iconografi who’s featured in the black-owned kawaii brands list.

Vampire Ouji

I first discovered lolita fashion through the visual kei band Versailles. The band is known for their vampire music, fashion, and plot line. I first learned about ouji when Versailles collaborated with gothic lolita fashion brand Alice and the Pirates. Old Alice and the Pirates designs focused much on the vampire lord and pirate themes which I’m quite fond of.

I wore this outfit to a Pokemon Go-themed pop-up last month. For the theme, I opted for black and gold to represent Team Instinct aka the yellow team. I haven’t played Pokemon Go in several years, but I was super into it when it first released. I’ll post pictures from the pop-up soon in another post.

It’s been a really long time since I wore black and gold together! The color combo used to be my signature look back in the Tumblr days. I found the AatP Ranveil Jacket secondhand recently. Seeing it made me miss old Alice and the Pirates. I swore long ago that I would not buy any pieces with such a large vampire collar since they look like a cone of shame, but I decided to give it one more chance. It was really annoying to wear, but I think I pulled it off.

Speaking of old trends, I never stopped liking mini hats. I simply can not escape my visual kei roots. One day while I was browsing Japanese Mercari, I stumbled upon this new brand called VIRTU MORE. It caught my attention since gothic indie accessories brands aren’t common anymore and their work seemed familiar. Upon further investigating, it turns out that VIRTU MORE is the successor brand of Suppurate System! I was really excited since I never got to purchase anything from Suppurate System before they disappeared. I bought this mini crown which I hope I remember to post a review later.

Another old fad I can’t let go of is the iconic big chain belts from gyaru brand d.i.a. These belts were really popular with rokku gyaru which is a style I adore, but don’t wear myself. They are just so exceptionally gaudy (in a good way) and this one matched really well with the pirate theme in my wardrobe.

I can’t wait to see all the vampire looks on Twitter! If you didn’t know, I’m most active on Twitter (@buttcape), so follow me for EGL-related rambles. If you’d like to see more of my style, please check My Outfits page!
